The Twister Fruit Picker®: How to Pick Oranges with The Twister Fruit Picker

During a recent visit to southern California, we noticed that all the orange trees were absolutely bursting with new fruit. As we walked around one neighborhood, we stopped to talk with a gentleman who told us that he thought the best way to harvest oranges was to cut them out of the tree and use a ladder to reach the ones at the tree top. We thought that was an interesting perception, so we decided to do a little research.

We have always heard that the best way to harvest an orange is to gently twist it off the tree with your hand. Both the San Francisco Gate and the Gardening Know How Feb 2016 cara cara orange picFebruary 2016 navel orange picwebsites suggest that when oranges are ripe, you “grasp them in your hand and gently twist until the stem detaches from the tree.” We completely agree with this advice, with the exception that both websites suggest getting the ladder for fruit that is too high to reach. Since The Twister Fruit Picker® is uniquely engineered to pick like your hand, it does a great job of picking those “out of reach oranges” without having to climb a ladder. Therefore, we believe that the best way to pick Navel, Valencia or Cara Cara oranges is with The Twister Fruit Picker®. Happy picking!
