21 Nov, 2014 Way Up High in the Apple Tree: Picking Apples with The Twister Fruit Picker®!
There is an old children’s poem that has been around for years. The author is unknown, but many of us remember learning it when we first started school.
While this poem is fun to chant and learn, there are a few inaccuracies. First, if you were able to shake the tree enough to get the apples to fall, they would be bruised and not very good to eat. Secondly, most apple trees are either too tall or too big to shake. Thirdly, even if you have a semi-dwarf tree, picking apples correctly by gently lifting up in a “J formation” to the right or to the left keeps the stem intact; this will help the apples stay fresher, longer. Spurs for next year’s apple crop can also be damaged if apples are picked incorrectly. Dave’s Garden is a good website for advice on when and how to harvest apples. The Twister Fruit Picker® allows you to pick fruit correctly and you can safely reach the fruit way up high in the apple tree.
We recently visited Johnson Orchards in Yakima, Washington. With The Twister Fruit Picker®, we were able to pick the sweetest, largest and ripest Fuji apples at the top of the tree easily, without a ladder. If we hadn’t had The Twister Fruit Picker®, we would have had to settle for the somewhat smaller, less ripe apples.
With The Twister Fruit Picker®, you can pick apples way up high in the apple tree. Whether you have apples, peaches, pears, oranges or other fruit, The Twister Fruit Picker is definitely the best way to pick fruit at the top of your tree.
